Off Road Rescue

AMBULANCE VOLUNTEERS UNVAIL OFF-ROAD RESCUE PROGRAM

December 13, 2003 was a historic day not only for Northfield, but for all of central Vermont as the Northfield Ambulance Volunteers presented their off road rescue program to the municipality at a ceremony held at the Northfield Ambulance Bay.

The equipment, utilized by the Northfield Ambulance Service, includes an ATV, complete with a track system for winter use, a Rescue Boggan, and a 24-foot command trailer equipped with heat, air conditioning, lighting, telephone, TV, refrigerator, microwave and more. Total value of the package is $16,000.00.

Work on this program began last winter with a concept and 11 months and, literally hundreds upon hundreds of volunteer man hours later the concept has come to fruition. Specs were written, grants applied for and bids solicited. The public support of this project was incredible with over 20 businesses contributing funds. We would especially like to thank Scott Stone and the Northfield Snowmobilers for their assistance in getting this program off the ground. Major sponsors also include VAST, Speedway Safety Service, Washington County Snowmobilers, Barry Chouinard, Kingdom Cat, Dr Joe Zuaro, and Buck’s Small Engine Repairs. Funding was entirely from grants, sponsorships, donations and fundraising. No tax dollars were used in this project.

Saturday’s ceremony was well attended with Maxine Grad, Charlie Morse, and EMS Director Jim Baraw offering words of praise and thanks. The command trailer was dedicated to the Northfield Ambulance Volunteers.

It is with great pride and pleasure that the Northfield Ambulance Volunteers present the Off-Road Rescue Program to the Municipality, the citizens of Northfield and the residences of Central Vermont.
