NAS CRASH RESCUE

Northfield Ambulance Crash Rescue was established in 1985 following the Norwich Fire Brigade tragedy.  What started from humble beginnings; soon developed into an active crash rescue unit.  Through donations and active support from the volunteers Northfield Rescue began to fulfill the expectations of its creators.

The capabilities of the unit are the direct combination of equipment and training.  Currently we house a full compliment of hydraulic tools, air tools, and hand tools.  A generator that was acquired through fundraising; powers not only our electric tools and tower lights; but also provides supplemental power to our Off Road Rescue/Mobile Command Trailer.

Our members are driven individuals who seek out training throughout the state to make our rescue unit strong.  Some of these trainings include:

· Vehicle Rescue A - Basic Hand Tools

· Vehicle Rescue B – Advanced Hydraulics

· Vehicle Rescue: Bus

· New Vehicle Technologies

· Mass Causality Incident Training (MCI)

· Confined Space Rescue

We are constantly working to improve not just our equipment but our skills.  We cover a broad area to include Northfield, Roxbury and West Berlin.  We provide mutual aid support to all neighboring communities.  If anyone would like to have more information about our Rescue Team please feel free to contact the Rescue Supervisor Lawton Rutter.
